Georgina Hoby Scutt at Wilson and Dorset

We are very excited to present a beautiful collection of work by Nelson artist; Georgina Hoby Scutt within the inviting space of Wilson & Dorset in Wanaka.

The work of Georgina Hoby Scutt pulls you into rich rollicking landscapes and for moments of quiet in a still life.
Her paint palette sings with Autumn auburns rose golds, smooth olive greens and the inkiness of blues - colours that seem to comfort and signal a storm all at once!

"For me, painting is challenging, therapeutic and hugely joyful.
I love to bring together colour palettes that sing and radiate great energy. My brushwork is intuitive and energetic, inspired daily by the beautiful colours, landscapes and still life vignettes that surround me".

Studio Home ART HOUSE 3 - featuring Alex Fulton and Alexandra Weston

Our third ART HOUSE brings you an entirely different flavour and vibe!
We will explore the detailed and innovative work of two local abstract artists – experts in experimentation of colour and form.

Alex Fulton is well known as New Zealand’s Queen of Colour, a highly sought after interior designer and creative voice. Little known to many is her passion for painting and we are thrilled to debut her brand new collection of bold precise forms that celebrate her affinity with colour.
(See also below the exclusive 1 Day painting workshop with Alex!)

Alexandra Weston‘s work is a marvel. From a distance her large scale pieces appear to be pattern… on closer inspection, you will find incredible layers and colour combinations in meticulously placed, painterly dots. Commonly working on perspex and for the very first time releasing limited edition prints, it is a treat to view this Lyttelton artists work in person!

We will also be introducing something a little new!
It has long been my dream to create a Poster Project that could open doors for collaboration and also provide a light hearted “bridge” leading new art buyers away from homeware decorative prints to owning work that is “made by people” local to them. This ART HOUSE debut will offer visitors to view the debut collection in person and place orders.

Further details on all artists down this page.

As always, the aim of the ART HOUSE pop up is to offer YOU the chance to learn about, appreciate and buy art in a friendly domestic environment.

We hope to see you on Thursday 21st February 2019.

Studio Home Poster Project launching at ART HOUSE 3

With an eye on the future I will invite artists to select photographs shot by me and transform them into something new by over painting, drawing, collage and more.
To debut the project I have created a small collection of 3 pieces in celebration of my new passion for gardening and my imagined whimsy and personality that my home grown blooms have.
“Creatures from my Garden” will be added to in time as will the introduction of collaborative imagery with other artists.
Printed on non-archival 160 gsm poster paper and available in limited editions of A2 x 100 and A1 x 80, this project will provide largescale options at an entry level price.
I’m excited and a tad nervous at your thoughts!!!
Julia x

Pre-orders will be available in person at the ART HOUSE pop up, following the show they will be permanently available online at the NEW Studio Home Art Store.

The Blue House

T and I have lived in this 1912 Christchurch villa for just over two years. We were extremely lucky to land in a property with such fantastic bones and have relished making it our own.
Painting rooms, falling head first into a flower gardening obsession (well one of us..) and even our own wedding ceremony in the back yard is all part of our life here so far.

Over the last year, the focus of my own writing has headed more and more into the realms of encouraging others to make spaces that reflect themselves. Ways to recognise their individual aesthetic values and relish slowly building a home that is both a personal refuge and teller of their own stories.

The ART HOUSE concept feels like a natural extension of these ideas and my 11 years of profiling artists on both sides of the Tasman. Inviting people in the doors to wander an art filled home in person shuns the perception that art exhibitions are somehow shrouded in snobbery and expense.
My only goal is to encourage people to find value in owning art the same way they would spend on a new dress or holiday. Art will stick round for longer!
